Sergeant Frank B Robbins
Company B, 20th New York Cavalry
Robbins (also spelled Robins) was born in Brownville (Jefferson County), New York on October 29, 1846. The 16 year old enlisted in the regiment on August 31, 1863 at Sackett’s Harbor, New York. He was mustered on September 3, 1863 and served until July 31, 1865. He was discharged at Manchester, Virginia. Robbins enlisted as a private and was promoted to corporal (May 1, 1864) and sergeant on June 12, 1865.
Companies A through G of the 20th New York Cavalry were organized and mustered at Sackett’s Harbor, New York on September 3, 1863. During his enlistment the regiment was assigned to the sieges at Petersburg and Richmond, Virginia from December 1864 through April 1865.
Robbins died on November 2, 1931 at the age of 85 years. He is buried in the Hillside Cemetery in North Loup (Valley County), Nebraska.
