Private Christopher C Siefford
Company I, 10th Iowa Infantry
Siefford was born in Virginia on June 18, 1844. He was living in the 5th Congressional District of Iowa when he enlisted and was mustered in the regiment on October 3, 1864. Some Civil War sources spell his last name “Sifford”. He was mustered in as a substitute soldier. Siefford served about 9 months before he was discharged on June 21, 1865 at Keokuk, Iowa. Iowa records indicate that he suffered a toe wound. The date and geographic location of the wound was not available.
Siefford died on July 27, 1936 at the age of 92 years. He is buried in the Wymore Cemetery in Wymore (Gage County), Nebraska. At the time of his death, he was the last member of the Coleman Post (#115) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Wymore.
